When “Bad” Things Happen.

We all go through ups and downs in life. Well, it’s life.

Sometimes we find ourselves asking, “why did this happen to me?”

Some things (actually a lot of things) are simply out of our control and that’s okay. We’re just human, riding along on this journey. We aren’t meant to have control over life, over others, over the world, over much of anything. All we have control over is how we choose to deal with life, our feelings, thoughts, perception, and how we choose to treat others along the way. Outside of that, it’s really not up to us.

Yes, man creates his own destiny, but only within the realm of the aforementioned.

The important thing is—and I truly believe this—that when certain “negative” life events happen, it is always for good reason. We may perceive it as a negative occurrence or situation, but things don’t ever happen to hurt us or bring us down; the cosmic energy that surrounds us works in mysterious ways to build us up.

We may not see it initially. We may not understand. But, if we know and trust in our spirit that the situations and circumstances before us are merely an opportunity for something better, we will prevail.

I often remind myself: “The universe is always conspiring in my favor.”

I believe it with all my heart and, although a little rattled at first, when life happens, I stay firm in my belief and I choose to view it as an opportunity or a lesson that will only lead me to an improved self and an improved life.

I choose gratitude over fear, worry, anger, etc. It’s not easy at first, but it brings such peace to trust in the process of life, rather than resent it.

So, when “bad” things happen:

Take a moment to have faith and trust that it is for the better. Change your perspective. Pretend you are only allowed to see the positive or glass half-full aspect of things. Watch how that will open your eyes and expand your awareness. List all of the reasons why and how this life event/situation/etc. can be a good thing.

This mentality will literally change everything.

Much love and peace to you.
