Buckwheat, in contrast to its name, is not actually related to the wheat family of grains. In fact, it’s not even a grain, it’s a fruit seed. That’s why it makes such a great alternative to wheat and gluten containing products for those who have sensitivities. Not to mention, buckwheat is nutritious, delicious and has a low glycemic index. The best part is that this fruit seed can act like a grain in baked goods such as pancakes, crepes and more.
